Mini-DVD's, 8BitPeoples Gig

Got some mini-DVD's today, I bought a pack so I could experiment with any ideas I have, the mian reason is to do a mini-DVD of the 8-Bit Peoples gig, as they release the albums on the label on mini-CD's, see the 8bitpeoples.com website, especially the discography, for examples.

The picture is an early idea for the cover of the DVD, I'll send it in to Nullsoft at 8BitPeoples HQ when it's finished.

I want to find a durable but small, preferably circular, case for them, so I can use it for a key-ring, when I get that sorted out they'll be a decent product I think, I'll be looking into it...

Also figured out what I'm going to do with my Lichtenstein picture, if it all works as I hope it'll be pretty cool I reckon. When I finish it I'll send some details to Mellisa Clifton and see if she appreciates what I've done with my picture after following her tutorial.

In fact, the idea I had for the gift could be used in a few different applications... if it could be cheaply manufactured (total costs so far are <£6) it could be destined to be one of those tacky gift ideas, but for now it's a one-off.

Stupid Mistakes in Stuff

I get annoyed wtih stuipd spellnig msitakes, errors and stfuf, I'm not a pernectiofist and I mkae mietakss mylesf, I am not bothered auobt mtsiakes in tetxs, e-mlias, fourm meassges, or oehtr smei-permanent fmros of cnotent, but...

Wehn the mtsiakes appaer in tihngs lkie vedios, on static webistes, in pirnt, thgnis lkie taht, palces wehre tehy can be frialy ealisy ccehked, wrehe trehe's ofetn snmeooe who has the rloe of chickeng taht trehe aern't any mastikes, wlel taht's lzay.

So therefore there will never be any mistakes in My DVD's or on my permanent websites. Ever.

27th - 29th may 06

Did a little illustration in the style of Lichtenstein, following a tutorial on melissaclifton.com.

No surf, not much happening, deciding what to do next week…

Putting together a new benpascoe.co.uk design, which incorporates this blog thing into it, should look better, don't know yet…

24th - 27th May 06

Went out last night, fun,

Thinking of doing a section on 8balls with stand-up and other footage and some footage from archive.org of anti-prejudice info' films, 2 Pac on the soundtrack, should be a funny way of including a lot of footage of stand-ups that I wouldn't otherwise use.

designing a T-shirt with Herman Hesse's face on it, a stencil design, with I Heart Hesse written on it maybe. thinking of printing it myself using ink and an acetate stencil, but not decided yet.

Also building a couple of set-ups for the wireless bullet cam, should be interesting.

Surfed Challaborough the other day, tested Dk board again but it sucked this time, but I was surfing like a kook… took in my normal board afterwards and surfed better.

22-24 May 06

My new remote arrived today so I can start using my helmet-cam again now.

Trying to get to grips with Flash to make a kind of magazine thing like A-frame, 600mm, Slab etc. dont know if it'll work properly yet, possible features of the magazine: 8-bit gig review, DK board creation, wireless camera, DVD making in general, 8 Balls, bodyboard video reviews? T-Shirt printing? sponsorship?

Thinking of having a few days off next week to go up to London/Swansea, maybe a road trip thing,

got some nice frames from Chris Levi from some Hawaii and Cali' footage for the 8balls DVD, should be good, might try and get some Peru stuff of Mitch to go with it.

I'll probably do a template for this page soon so it fits with either RSK or benpascoe.co.uk.

I need to go buy the Herald for the jobs as it's wednesday.

Nearly finished Brave new world, trying to make it last, got the audio book too, might use a couple of snippets in a new podcast if I make one. Might also use clips from an Aldous Huxley inspired DVD (The Gravity of Light) in an 8Balls trailer or something…

18 - 22 May 2006

I did the BBC filming thing, it was good, I used my own camera instead of theirs because the guy who was doing some filming before me hadn't come back with the camera. I thought I'd get to use the nice Hi-def Sony that was lying around, but that was for the woman shooting for Spotlight…

Spoke to the other woman doing her idea (kids perspective) at the same time, we filmed some corny stuff for spotlight which didn't get used likepointing in opposite directions and a short interview etc.

I did my edit with the BBC editor, then went home then to work, setting the VCR before I went, in the end they used my 1 minute edit of a calfs eye view for the Spotlight programme, so that was cool.

you can see it here: bbc.co.uk/devon..., direct link to video: here

Got a contact at the BBC for the future, and had a laugh at my finished piece.

Surfed Wembury on Friday and Saturday, OK, tested my new DK board out on Saturday, went OK, have to secure the velcro better in future but I can spin with the fins in and I got one fairly good ride where I was able to drive off the bottom and it felt different enough to make me want to test it out again.

Found a replacement remote for my Canon camera on Sunday evening, payed by Paypal, should be sent tomorrow, so I'll be able to use my helmet cam again soon.

Got lots of ideas about 8-balls, downloaded Fatboy Slim: "going out of my head" to use for a section, maybe mine.

Got some pictures and a short clip from George about his failed surf expedition on Saturday, glad I'm not the only one who goes on failed missions and still enjoys it. (see them on the rsk update gallery)

Brief chat with Candance on MSN inspired a Karma-based internet auction site, might be a funny idea to try out, or an excuse to design a fresh site. Also would be good to do a road trip to Swansea to coincide with her last week in the country… then London for the 6th perhaps…

Also downloaded some VJ software and some archive slips from the BBC, but I'm unconvinced, I might export a bunch of quicktime files and make a quick VJ edit for the 8balls site,

8-balls domain is registered and hosting is on its way, Sam "Tbass" is sorting it out, should be good when it's up and running.

May 17, 2006 - BBC, Devon County Show

I filled in a little form on the BBC.co.uk/devon site asking for people to film something a bit different for their coverage of the show, so I put down the first thing that I thought of, (filming form the animals point of view), and they phoned me back today to tell me that I should get down there for Tomorrow morning,

So I'll be shooting 10 minutes of footage for the BBC tomorrow, should be fun.

My Blog/Journal Thing

Reading the book Any Human Heart by William Boyd has inspired me to write down some things that I do or think, so I set this up, unless I lose interest, it'll be updated when I have something to write.

I'm moving these posts from wordpress, so the date's will be all out of wack, I'll see if I can change them, but for now go by the title, not the posted date.
